This Year’s competition The 21st edition of the Boss des Bosses .

http://www.bossdesbosses.co.uk?ref=cgw

Wednesday 17th March, Grande Montets

Everything is preparing itself nicely for the 2010 edition of the Boss des Bosses. We are just praying for the sunshine now and all will be righteous. The DJs are forming an orderly queue to the left and the teams are lining up on the right. The new Poster’s should be up in resort this week and we have finally managed to update the website, the only thing missing now is the Beer and we are good to go. Looking forward to seeing you all again, look for info in resort for coaches. I will try to get as much info up on here as possible.

Last Year’s Competition

The weather turned warm hailing the beginning of spring and the people came from far and wide in the largest gathering so far. Music was provided by a lot of Chamonix DJ s including Adam, Jimbo, Corin, Joe V, a rare return to the Boss des Bosses by Magnus Asberg and some guys from Paris on the Black Crows ticket. All ’round great Tunes were had.

The course of soft bumps was ripped by all and sundry and the addition of a couple of Kickers in the top section by Plake added a lot of exciting action.

There has been much discussion over the past few years over the wisdom of having a machine built course, One person who was very vocal on the subject was Glen Plake, who this year put his time where his mouth was and spent the week preceding the comp helping out with the course building. I think the result was great, coupled with excellent snow conditions we saw one of the best courses for some time. Adam Johnston and his team put in some great kickers at the bottom and a new profiled landing completed a formula that should be kept for the future.

So many old faces made it back this year to celebrate 20 years of mayhem not least a lot of crew from Verbier who came four coaches strong and dressed in some of the best fancy dress ever seen. We may well be awarding them a posthumous trophy for there efforts. A team strip award should also be mentoined for the “Team Courch” bibs from Courchevel.

The qualifying rounds were fiercely fought and resulted in the same final line up that we are becoming used to of Chamonix and Zermatt. This was slightly controversial as Verbier had won both their heats and beaten Zermatt 7-6 in the heats. However it is cumulative point that puts a team forward and I was forced to stick to the rules even ‘tho this seemed slightly unfair. We will try and let you ski Val d’Isere first next year.

Zermatt beat Chamonix to become the 2009 champions, Verbier beat Meribel 8-5 to become runners up and Val d’Isere beat Courchevel into 5th place.

I would like to thank everybody who helped to make the day such a success especially Jon Trigell for his work on the mic and Phil Martin for his Judge Marshaling. Adam Johnston for all his hard work over the past months, the Dynamic lives BBQ, Jamie from Hip Chalets, Le Vert Shooters bar, Black Crows Ski Test, Extreme energy drinks for their continuing support and MTC, Jacks bar and Freeride in Meribel for making those coaches happen.
