UK coach transfers offered by local companies
April 19th, 2010by Alison Shayler | Skinets Administration | published 19-Apr-201
With the latest news from the National Air Traffic Services being that flights will remain grounded until at least Tuesday of this week (20th April), many people have found their winter holiday unexpectedly extended.
Now, while we would argue that there are certainly worse places to be stuck, this has undoubtedly caused a lot of disruption to people?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s plans. Fortunately, many of the Chamonix airport transfer companies have come to the rescue by providing coaches and minibuses to ferry terminals such as Calais and Lille, with some companies even going across the Channel to drop people off in Dover and London.
Companies that we know of running such services include:
ChamExpress
Deluxe Transfers
Geneva-Airport-Transfers
These services are being provided according to demand and seats may not be confirmed until the last minute, so please contact them directly to find out where and when they are next travelling.

A Huge Thank You
April 18th, 2010After an action packed weekend we are pleased to report WOW Chamonix was a huge success. An overwhelming response from local riders brought our numbers to a total of 40 participating ladies in the weekend’s various sessions.
http://wowchamonix.wordpress.com/2010/02/08/1/
WOW Chamonix kicked off on Friday afternoon at our HQ, Dynamic Lives, Chalet Varaita, where everyone signed up and received their Below Zero goodie bags and t-shirts. A healthy start to the weekend with yoga in the sunshine, bubbles in the hot tub and Chamofix massages, was followed by a welcome BBQ washed down with beer from the MBC local micro-brewery, DJ Jimbo tunes and a late night tour of Argentiere.
Saturday was a great weather day as we headed up to Grand Montets for morning ski and snowboard clinics with Keiran from Blue Mile Snowsports and Scott freeski team rider Stephanie Parizet. Les Marmottons restaurant hosted our crew of ladies for a hearty Savoyard lunch with some witty banter from the waiters. The afternoon saw us scampering around Grand Montets on a cryptic treasure hunt designed by Annabel to challenge our minds and patience, with a dash for stash under Red Bull cans concealing prize tokens for Oakley goggles and Storm t’s and hoodies .
At the end of the day we couldn’t resist popping back into Les Marmottons for a cheeky beer and to check out local group Bodhizapha’s end of season set. Back at the chalet, the pampering continued with massages from Purefix and a good soak in the hot tub. That evening, the boys at the Office Bar didn’t know what had hit them when 25 members of Women Of Winter walked in and took over the bar. Luckily for everyone, they had a private room ready for us to enjoy a great dinner and wine, chatting and cheering, before testing the barman’s cocktail skills. Paul at the Slalom Bar also excelled in shot making skills, complementary to all the ladies.
Sunday morning saw the survivors head up to la Flegere for a springtime freeride session, but a cold northerly wind came in for the afternoon and lunch at the Rhododendrons was the call of the day. After a little more hot tub and chill out time, The Rusticana was calling. Sven generously donated a tasty buffet for all and allowed us to take over the bar for the the much anticipated closing party. By 6 pm girls and guys alike were fighting to get their last minute raffle tickets and a chance to win some of the amazing prizes on offer. Michel from Michel Sport in Argentiere arrive as a late entry sponsor with more goodies for the raffle and to bring other shop owners in to buy tickets. There was plenty to go around due to the generosity surrounding us and so the novel WOW format of “choose your own prize” was a huge hit.
Amongst the prizes were some hidden gems- a Scott Gore-tex jacket, paragliding flights from Le Tof bar, Scott poles and goggles, a World Sessions Winter Weekend pass, Evolution 2 ski clinics, Mons Royale and Icebreaker merino wool base layers, Oakley and POC goggles, as well as a selection of Storm and Yard t-shirts and hoodies and SueMe Buffs. But the tension had been building for the pinnacle of prizes, 2 pairs of skis, which were crying out for a new home. The Faction Aria skis went to Tara, after a final ‘paper, scissors, rock’ showdown and the Black Diamond Kilowatt skis, donated by the Vert Hotel, were eventually auctioned off after a nail-biting bidding war for 255 euros.
In total over the weekend we raised 1111 euros for our chosen charities, Alpine Initiatives and Breast Cancer Campaign. We were thrilled by the support from local businesses, bars, girls and guys alike and for the encouragement for more of the same in the valley and worldwide. Thank you to everyone who went out of their way to make WOW Chamonix a huge success, in particular a massive cheers to Dynamic Lives for providing us with Chalet Varaita, our HQ for the weekend. Watch out for the next WOW event soon at www.missionwow.org.
