Quality of the snow on Monday: often crusty and hard. In northern slopes, we find an extremely compact snow or loose snow zones (powdered sugar) topped with a crust. In southern slopes, the frozen snow in the morning softened up temporarily on the surface to 2400 m. In high-mountain, snow has been worked by the wind often compact, some in bare ice ridges.
STABILITY OF THE SNOWPACK:
Generally well bonded
The last snowfall dates back to January 12. No avalanches were reported last 8 days. The snowpack remains cold in shady slopes, while there is snow Spring adrets.
Risk of spontaneous slides: a few small cast surface at midday in corridors mixed rock / snow or rock bars. Only on steep slopes and very sunny. The snow being reharden afternoon in windward slopes and under the veil of cloud.
Risk of triggering an avalanche of skiers passing: low. Rare isolated patches may persist in the top of Mont Blanc, difficult to break.
Attention to the risk of falling + slip on hard snow (crampons useful even mid_elevations).
TREND FOR TUESDAY:
Risk increased with a small layer of snow expected: the appearance of slabs, small but fragile, especially in the cold slopes.

February 6th, 2011AVALANCHE BULLETIN
Haute-Savoie
valid outside of marked trails and open
FOR Monday, February 7, 2011
(Written Sunday, February 6)
RISK ASSESSMENT THROUGH MONDAY EVENING:
All ranges of Haute-Savoie: Risk 2 (limited)
WEATHER OUTLOOK UNTIL MONDAY EVENING:
Starry Night, but little or refreezing of snow slopes mid_elevations, minimum temperatures in the slopes around 1500 m 8 dg,
Big beautiful Monday, very soft in the sun mid_elevations. In high_elevations, unn little windy atmosphere, the temperature at the Aiguille du Midi -7/-5 dg.
Isotherm 0 DG: 3300/3100 m. Isotherm -10 DG: 4500 m.
Wind at 2000 m: low on Sunday evening then southwest 20 / 30 km / h.
Wind at 4000m: Northwest 20 early night and 20/40 km / h.
Mt Blanc summit: West 30/50 km / h.
SNOW_CONDITIONS:
The snow is very low for early February. In North Slope at 1500 m: only 20 to 30 cm of snow. In southern slope, we must go beyond 1600 to 2000 m depending on the steepness of the slope to find snow. It happens to put on skis or snowshoes around 1200 m lower in shady and cool but watch out for rocks. Caution on the lower parts of the glaciers with snow bridges over crevasses sometimes fragile.
Snow quality: often crusty and hard with few areas of old-type powdered sugar on the surface or beneath the crust. With the sun in the southwestern slopes to the west until about 3000/3500 m, hard snow (crampons recommended steep in parts) gets wet.
In high-mountain snow has recently been heavily worked by the wind.
STABILITY OF THE SNOWPACK:
risk localized wet snow slides, slabs high_elevations.
For over twenty days with almost no snowfall, the snowpack is generally well bonded.
With the softness marked the day, a few wet snow slides may occur in the corridors and steep slopes. Either by attrition or triggered by hikers and downhill. Therefore caution in steep passages on wet snow.
The departure of a bottom plate is also possible (any time).
In high_elevations, the risk of triggering an avalanche is limited, rare presence of wind slabs formed by the blast last Wednesday at high altitudes, which may break under the weight of the skier (s) / climber (s).
EVOLUTION OF THE AVALANCHE RISK:
Little changed on Tuesday and Wednesday, the risk of wind slab will decrease high_elevations and we will keep a small risk of wet snow avalanches.
GOOD RACES
